He decides to tell one of the reasons, "Well, traveling with a fugitive and dragon would get you all noticed sooner or later; as I'm not the only person in the world who can tell what people and creatures really are. And if that party has someone with that ability, I'm sure they would want dragon's hide and the fugitive's bounty. I assumed if that was the case, you wouldn't just sit around like morons and have them go their way with you. Then two things will happen, my contact would run, my pursuers are checking for any leads, meaning they search every little event that happens, even in the God-forsaken boondocks. And I bet just because it's my life, I would become involved anyways."
He checks back into town, seeing the coast is clear. The magician is worked up, feeling that he had done more work than he should have done, "You know what, sorry I decided to help ya."
He starts back to town., just wanting it to be night time.

Malinic, still in his dog form, lets out a growl. He really didn't like that man. Even though what he said was true. As he watched the man leave, Malinic looked to his friends and tilted his head. On his face, an expression that asked what they should do next.

Selintia didn’t take her eyes off the retreating form of the man who had helped them. She didn’t even know his name and she was slightly curious about him.
Giving Mehilsin’s hand another light squeeze she turned back to look at Malinic. “You should take Mehilsin and head back into the woods some. Go off the paths so that you won’t be seen by others. I’ll go get supplies for us.”
She then slipped her hand from Mehilsin’s and disappeared into the village.
Mehilsin blinked after her then turned confused eyes onto Malinic.

"Screw you to, moron, maybe things would've been better if I let the hunters welcomed you into town..." he thinks as he hears the growl.
Wanting to buy supplies, he looks at the General Store, it was closed for the day; it didn't matter if it was, he would be breaching the contract if he entered early. The magician then notices a weapons vendor and heads to him, "Are you still selling?"
"Yes, and nothing else in this town can match the quality of my stock," a smooth, German male tells him.
"Show me your best swords then please, anything one-handed would be preferred."
The vendor goes into the back of the stall, only to return with 3 foreign weapons. There was a rapier, in a gold scabbard; a katana, in red, and a flyssa, in dark green. Drake instincts told him to look at the flyssa, a two and half foot, single-bladed, African sword. He liked it, it was light weight, good range, and the metal was a perfect conductor for magic, if he wanted to make it elemental. "How much?"
"200. And I'm not in the bargaining mood, so take it or leave it."
"Hardass..." he was tired of dealing with difficult people. Drake finds the money, exactly 200, and pays for his weapon.
"Thank you," the German says as he hand the sword to its new owner. The magician then puts it at his side, ready for tonight.

Malinic looked to Mehilsin and tilted his head so one floppy ear drooped. He barked a little and wagged his tail. We should probably go now, was what his expression meant. Taking a deep breath, Malinic started to lead Mehilsin back towards the forests quickly, but he stayed near him just in case his friend was still wobbly on his feet. I probably should've shifted into a bigger dog... he thought.

The clink of coins drew Selintia’s attention to the man who had helped them. She slipped closer to him, curious as the shop owner handed a sword over to him. When he said thank you she realised that none of them had thanked him for saving them.
The shop owner glanced towards her and she wondered if Malinic had ever used a sword. It didn’t really matter anyway; she didn’t have enough to buy one.
“Thank you,” she murmured to the man with his new sword.
Mehilsin followed Malinic towards the forest. The path was getting darker steadily and he tripped over a stone. Losing his balance he fell forward, his hand landing hard on Malinic’s back.

It wasn't too hard to catch Mehilsin. Though once his friend got back on his feet, Malinic knew they were far enough out of sight to change back. Once in human form, Malinic looked to Mehilsin. "I'm so glad to be out of that place." He blew out a sigh of relief. Now he just wondered how Selintia was. He sat down on the path and drew random doodles in the dirt boredly.

Selintia stared up at him, her blue eyes blinking only once. “I don’t believe that you’re sorry. And as for a place to stay, didn’t you just clearly tell us that staying in the town was a bad idea?” her expression was perfectly calm as she said all this.
But before she could wait for his reaction she was distracted by the emotions of a lady not far from them as she raced down the street. Her emotional distress was evident by the way her hands were constantly going to her face, wiping away the tears that trailed down her face.
Without much of a choice Selintia was felt obligated to help her. “Excuse me,” she said to the man before setting after the woman at a quick pace.
“Should we have left her alone in the town?” Mehilsin asked uneasily. “She’s not like us but she’s not human either. They could be able to tell.”
Truthfully he mostly hated being from her side. But the thought of her being there as alone had been running from his family made him feel bad.

Drake wants to respond with, "Well, would you rather that I be a total ass? Anyways, I don't think I said that... Chances are if you lay low, you'll be fine now, those hunters wouldn't be back for a few days. Well, even though you said I'm truly not sorry, I'm trying to do the right thing."
He never got the chance as, "Excuse me", kills the conversation, along with Selintia walking away.
"What's up now?", flashed in his mind as he follows the empath. He then sees and hears the concern, "Lady in distress, perhaps?"
